Species Information
EARTH PONIES
Earth ponies are the strongest of the three pony species, for their innate magic they need in order to tend to the land. They are usually the most muscular, but not overly so, and the tallest of the three, however individuals been known to come in smaller or slimmer shapes. Earth ponies in general are a very stubborn and sturdy species, able to take much more punishment and difficult to bring down. They tend to be a part of the main fighting force, wearing the strongest armor and using straightforward tactics.
PEGASUS PONIES
Pegasi are the swiftest of the three species, as they are more streamlined. They come in varying sizes, but they usually tend to be sleek and athletic. They are nimble on their hooves when they’re on the ground, but they are much more agile when they’re in the sky. Of the three species, they have much sharper vision and hearing, required of them when they need to be aware of dangers in the sky, such as attacks from dragons or gryphons who are their aerial rivals. While they aren’t as sturdy as the earth ponies, they can still take a beating. Pegasi tend to use more evasive tactics, moving in to strike under their opponent’s defenses and retreating repeatedly. They are also skilled at stealth attacks and methods. Pegasi, while they are capable of using weapons and their hooves to fight, also use their wings due to their flight strength, especially if they’re used to flying in armor; a good strike from one of their wings is enough to stun the average pony.
UNICORNS
Unicorns may be the most average of the three species when it comes to strength and speed, but they make up for it in magical abilities. However, since the war and the wear of travel, they’ve shaped up. They outfit themselves with armor, usually light, and sometimes enchanted. Unicorns tend to work either as warriors directly in fights, or as healers and magical supports. Unicorns supporting a fight may launch spells into the midst of it to strike down their enemies or trip them up for their allies to take care of. Any unicorn that is well prepared will bring magic-infused crystals with them into battle for more magic energy (often known as mana). A unicorn by themselves who is skilled enough, with a lot of magical endurance, may be able to hold their own against a small group of enemies, but anypony who is determined enough and can avoid the deadliest of spells may be able to wear them down to where magic can no longer be their defense. Unicorns are also useful in detecting areas affected by the Wasteland Winds and are often sought for their skills and abilities in avoiding danger.
ZEBRA
Zebras are a pony like species that often come in the color white with sharp black stripes upon both coat and mane. It is unknown if zebras have any innate magic of their own, but they have shown themselves capable in harnessing natural magic and the use of chemistry- knowledge passed down through generations since pre-war times. They use this knowledge to create potions - often it comes in the form of medicine or healing elixir. Others may put their skills to use in this branch to also create addictive or even harmful substances - that is, drugs. Zebras are also known well for their expert and unusual fighting skills in unarmed combat; swift, graceful and dangerous. Those who have the knowledge may even go after pressure points to quickly stun or knock out their foes with little effort. Zebras often live in close-knit tribes and survive by selling medicine and drugs for gems to exchange for other goods such as food and weapons. Some may hire themselves off as mercenaries or assassins.
CHANGED
The Changed are exactly as their name suggests. In particular, it refers to those who were so far changed by the Wasteland Winds that they can barely be thought of as ponies at all* (in fact, the Wastelanders were very quick to assume this position on them). While generally at least discomforting to behold, the Changed are mostly harmless and retain all of their pre-Change personalities. However, not all are so fortunate. Some of the Changed cannot cope with the stresses of their new life, and become savage as wild animals. The Changed, for all of their suffering, gain a lifespan five times that of an average Wastelander and a hardiness against most forms of attack. They are also completely immune to the Wasteland Winds which brought them into existence.
* The Changed may be distinctly pony in shape, but their biology has been altered by the Winds to a point that food, water and sleep are no longer strict requirements for their survival. Many Changed will still affect these actions out of die-hard habit, however.
NOCHTEIR
Nochteir are hardly much different than pegasi, although after the war their mutations have brought around some further change to their appearances. They rarely appear, as with pre-war times, although now are further crucified as 'monsters' by other ponies due to the way they look. Their bat-like wings have altered slightly in structure, as though a second pair began to grow behind the first and merged with the rest of their wings, and their ears are no longer so fluffy. They retain their bright dragon-like eyes and fangs which earn so much fear from others- they have excellent night vision and are capable of moving around much better under the cover of night. Most, if not all of them, live in small groups of 5-10 individuals in the scattered ruins of Cloudsdale, and generally remain reclusive.
GRIFFONS
As the griffons abandoned their civil truce during the war and began hunting ponies in earnest, only the smartest and strongest among the griffons would live to continue the species. These fierce predators are a true match to their name now, with the smallest known post-war griffons still standing around twice the height of an average pony. They're undoubtedly among the most dangerous of the threats plaguing the wasteland, as their sheer physical might is backed by a keen, sentient mind.

CHANGELINGS
There aren’t many left of the changeling species, due to the fact that most of them have died off. Equestria once was the largest source of love and a desired feeding ground for the changelings, but the war had soured that, making love near impossible to find and causing most of the changelings to eventually die from starvation. Those that have survived, however, were eventually warped by the dark magic that lingered in the aftermath of battles. They are similar to the Changed in that they benefit from the Wasteland Winds, although the lack of a proper queen to marshal them leaves them little more than feral beasts; they tend to rove in packs of four to five individuals. Their preferred prey are other creatures equally twisted by dark magic, such as the Changed themselves.
WHYTAEL
One of the wasteland's many mutated beasts, originating from far-west Whytael Marsh. The first Whytael are said to have come about as the result of a group of travelers trapped in a cavern when dark magic ravaged the forest they were traveling through. By an induced mutation of those poor souls with the creepy crawlies hiding nearby, the Whytael were born. Whytael are a full four times the size of a grown stallion. They walk on eight, long, bony legs and bare venomous fangs to all who intrude on their territory. Curiously, their white-spotted tawny fur is plush and soft to the touch- though few have ever managed to get close enough to know this and lived to tell the tale.
ARIMASPI
Arimaspi are goats that were altered by the lingering dark magic into mutant, feral creatures named after the cyclops from the Griffinstone legend, due to their single large eye. They generally have short, coarse coats that vary from off-white, gray, dark gray and occasionally black or faded brown. They are slightly bigger than their pre-war counterparts, with longer curved horns and short, needle-sharp teeth; they usually attack by trying to head-butt or bite their targets. They pose no threat to the average wastelander, and are seen more as a general (if sometimes painful) annoyance than an actual threat. To carnivorous animals higher up on the food chain, or those ponies with a liking for meat, they are an adequate enough food source.
MUTTS
Mutt is the nickname for a species that pre-war times once called Diamond Dogs. Steady exposure to the negative presence of dark magic eventually corrupted this species, devolving them into near quadrupeds in addition to gaining more wolf-like features. They are as tall as the average pony and largely feral, but seem to retain a semblance of speech, usually grunting simple phrases or words when they do speak. Mutts live underground and are still capable of digging like their pre-war counterparts. Their front paws still vaguely resemble hands with thick finger-like toes, opposable thumbs, and flat dull claws used solely for digging. They may also be capable of picking things up, but rarely if ever do so. They live in small packs from 4-8 individuals. As mutts are carnivorous, they will go after whatever other creature they deem food, such as ponies, goats, changed, or cattle and attack by swiping at or biting their targets. A soul lucky enough to do so may be able to distract mutts by leaving a small pile of gems or something of similar, shiny quality nearby.
MANTICORES
Manticores are lion-like creatures with pointed ears, great bat-like wings and scorpion tails. They are solitary creatures that originate from the Everfree Forest, where most of them no doubt still reside. Those who live in the wasteland itself are rarely seen, only appearing to hunt down the occasional pony or other prey and don't seem to exhibit any visible sign of dark magic corruption as they likely steer clear of it. Manticores will attack if provoked, if they feel threatened, when defending their territory or if their home has been tampered with. They usually use pure brute force when fighting, as they usually only use their stingers for hunting or defense as it contains a venom that can paralyze their victims.
FARM ANIMALS
There are very few farm animals that remain in the wasteland and mostly seem to consist of cattle, as their numbers were once great in pre-war times, with smaller numbers of pigs and chickens. These animals are largely unintelligent, although some cattle may still retain some manner of speech. Cows are kept for their milk, and when killed their cured hides are used to make leather for clothing and armor; the same can be said of pigs' skin. The meat of cows and pigs are sold to meat-vendors or ponies who prefer meat. Chickens are not killed, as their feathers are used for pillow and mattress padding, and their eggs sold similarly as meat is.

ALICORNS
The existence of alicorns have been long since lost to history, and so too the reason for those who have ascended. Since the royal sisters' fall, it has been widely believed and accepted that the war was caused by the sisters, and the Wastelands created in their wake. Tales have sprung up from this belief, portraying alicorns as unnatural demons, and make claims to the 'evil' they are supposedly capable of. Very few, if any, ponies manage to reach ascension into alicorn-hood, and most often by accident. Those who have managed are often forced to flee their homes in order to protect themselves from angry and fearful Wastelanders.
*Alicorns are extremely rare and will most likely be an application-only or closed species with limited slots. Please keep this in mind when creating characters.
