Bits n' Pieces felt he might never get his wares back. Would he have to start over? Whatever happened to that griffin? He didn't remember.. Did he black out? Bits sighed, sitting at a wooden crate, leaning on it thoughtfully. It was terribly awkward talking with other ponies, specially since he couldn't really mention what he had in stock. He never was going to let his merchandise out of his sight ever again. Even now his stomach was growling from the lack of food. Soon. Once he had it he'd be out wandering the wasteland with the safety of his merchant bag keeping most of the dangers out of his way.
Autumn Aubade had decided to stick around. The Shoe seemed like a nice enough spot. Plus, she wasn't about to leave Spring behind again after having gone to all the trouble of finding her. The unicorn was wearing a strangely familiar - to the pony at the tables, at least - saddlepack that she had taken upon herself to return to its rightful owner. Spring seemed plenty distracted with the motley crew she'd amassed in her most recent travels. The red-haired one caught her attention pretty fast, standing out as he did against the drab coats of most of the Shoe. "Excuse me," she offered as she approached the crates. "Are you the pony they call... Bits?" It was a strange name, to be honest. Not that she was going to judge, considering her own calling.
Bits n' Pieces had nearly gotten up and left, at least until he saw the unicorn with his saddlepack. Bits nearly jumped up and ran over, however kept his cool but allowed a large, grateful smile as the other unicorn spoke. ''Yep yep, that's me.'' Bits almost chirped out, adjusting himself. ''Bits n' Pieces being my full merchant name, but for you? Bits is fine.'' Bits was fine by anyone, buuut he was a bit of a charmer any ways. ''Is that there my saddlepack? I've been wondering where it gotten to. I was hoping to get back to my route and catch up on the trade.''
Autumn Aubade smiled lightly at his attempt at charm. Were she any other pony, it might well have worked. Still, no reason not to play along. "Just for me, hmm?" she returned playfully. "This is indeed yours!" she then confirmed. "My sister said you had left it unattended, and she thought best to bring it here when her group departed from Ponyville sooner than leave it for any marauding wastelanders to pick over." Her characteristic golden magic wrapped softly around the bag, lifting it from her back and placing it down on the crate in front of the merchant. "You are no slouch, I see. That saddlepack is rather hefty," she noted. "I am curious what one pony may need of so much stock, even be they a merchant by trade." It couldn't be easy to haul that up and down the wasteland all the time.
Bits n' Pieces. Interesting. This unicorn either was trying to make conversation or actually knew he had a rather large sock. ''Well it's a long story that I should probably not share with a stranger. It could potentially get you killed should they come looking here.'' A light hearted smile, ''It's hefty indeed, but worth the troubles in the end. Besides one gets use to the heavy weight after years of lifting heavier items.'' Bits hummed, lifting the saddlepack with his own magic, and placing it back where it belonged-- On him. ''You sister.. I hate to say I don't recall her name completely, as I'm terrible with such things but I will not forget her kindness. If she, or you needs anything, and I mean anything.. Don't be afraid to ask.'' He could spare some supplies here an there to ponies that have done him service. Such things were rare these days in the wasteland.
Autumn Aubade was only more intrigued by that. It probably wasn't that unlikely. The wasteland was a big and dangerous place. Whether would-be assailants could best her, well, that was another story entirely. At the offer of help she frowned lightly for a moment. "I would not ask you to spare things for nothing in return. I am certain my sister and I have enough gems. You should keep what you can spare for those who do not." It only seemed fair. "I must ask what you have in the way of medical supplies, though- mine have been running low. My magic can only achieve so much. Medicine does much to alleviate the burden." Painkilling magic was so much more tedious than just offering a physical painkiller to somepony to take.
Bits n' Pieces was somewhat surprised, but didn't mention anything on it. He'd keep what she said in mind in the future, and keep it at that rather than pushing on the subject. If she said she and her sister were fine, that was good enough for him. Bits however though without hesitation started rummaging through his wares for supplies once she asked if he had any. Pff. He was practically Pony Poppins. He had nearly everything in his pack! Well... Considerable more than other merchants would, ''I have some purified water, pony magi-cola, vodka, basic wrap, Med-X, and some stimpaks.'' Bits listed off a small list, ''I'm not a medical expert, so I may have more if you're looking for anything specific.''
Autumn Aubade nearly gave a stern sort of disapproving look when soda was listed among medical supplies- vodka too, but at least it barely qualified by way of being vaguely antiseptic when applied externally. She managed to keep her expression neutral with enough effort. "The wrap and stimpaks will do nicely," she said, then smiling again. "They should be sufficient for anything we might sustain on the next part of our journey." Not to jinx it or anything. Hopefully they wouldn't be needed at all. "How many gems will those items be, Bits?"
Bits n' Pieces. Good question. Bits debated it, rolled it over a few times. He wanted to say on the house, but the other unicorn wouldn't take that for an answer. Hm. Two supplies.. Heck. Three gems sounded only fair. Wasn't the full price, but she didn't need to know that. ''Three gems is fair, yeah? Enough for a pony like myself to get on his route and get back to his life rather than questioning life again.''
Autumn Aubade nodded. "Sounds more than fair," she replied. Her horn glowed for a moment, producing four gems from within her cloak. Obviously her pouch was hidden somewhere beneath it. "I'll give you four, just to be sure of your success," she stated warmly. "I would quite like to do business with you again someday." If an extra gem now would help him survive that long, then it was a good investment she figured. Once the gems were handed over, she'd await the purchased goods before picking them up in her magic. "I should probably get back to my sister. It was very nice to meet you." She'd then stand from the table and swiftly make her way off to wherever Spring had ended up.
Bits n' Pieces actually was surprised as she pulled out four. Oh. What a pleasant surprise! Bits gave a warm smile, his eyes softening. ''Thank you. Again I will not forget your kindness.'' He pulled out the merchandise and watched as the unicorn took her purchased items as left. ''It was nice meeting you, may our paths cross again.'' He hummed, waiting as she disappeared from sight before gathering his things together, and set out on his own path. He had to get to trading, and tend to his own wasteland adventures.
