Pick any two Traits from this list (except where the Traits' effects would clearly be in conflict) for your character when compiling their stat sheet:
STAT EFFECTS
- Claustrophobia -
"You've never thought much of this... 'inside'. You'd much rather stay outside under the endless sky."
Effect: +1 modifier on all rolls made in open areas. -1 modifier on all rolls made in enclosed spaces.
- Agoraphobia -
"Big, open spaces freak you out. What's the deal with 'outside' anyway? Inside is so much better..."
Effect: +1 modifier on all rolls made in enclosed spaces. -1 modifier on all rolls made in open areas.
- Pure of Heart -
"Whether by sheer luck or some inborn goodness, you avoid falling prey to the corrupted morals of the Wasteland. Ponies around you seem to pick up on that."
Effect: +3 to the result of all Charisma rolls. -3 to the result of all attack rolls.
- Dashie -
"You're light on your hooves and don't strike much of an imposing figure, but that doesn't matter to you. When dust hits the wind you have the ability to flee Dodge Junction like nopony's business."
Effect: +3 to the result of all Agility rolls. -3 to the result of all Strength rolls.
- Tomhorse the Tank -
"Your enemies will rue the day they crossed your path when you show them a little Wasteland hospitality... directly to their face. BULK SMASH!! Unfortunately, your... specialised take on combat leaves little time to check your defenses."
Effect: +5 to the result of all attack rolls. -3 from Defense total.
- Meat Shield -
"Not even the power of Celestia could compel you. You have achieved true mastery over your defenses, and you bear the weight more easily than other ponies. So much defense, however, comes at the cost of your ability to attack."
Effect: Negate armour class penalties. -3 from Strength total (Adj. STR).
INDIVIDUAL EFFECTS
- Mare's Best Friend -
"You seem to have the uncanny ability to turn up Gems wherever you go. In a world of poverty and desperation, you live pretty comfortably... as long as you can protect your wealth from raiders."
Effect: You earn significantly more gems from encounters, questlines, and expeditions.
- Medic!! -
"Ponies who can wield good magic are rare in the Wasteland- and those who can use that magic to soothe and heal the sick and injured, even moreso. You are one among these fabled ranks- use your power wisely!"
Effect: Enables your character to wield both magic and Crystal Tech for the purpose of healing. A unicorn using their magic may only heal others, while Crystal Tech may either be used on the caster or anypony of their choosing. (Rolled as any other magic attack; the 'damage' is the amount restored.)
- On the Brink -
"A warrior to the bitter end, you'll go out in a blaze of glory- and you'll try to take them with you."
Effect: If struck by an enemy and knocked out of a fight, roll one last attack (including hit check) directed at that enemy- provided that they're within range of your weaponry.
- Attitude Fortitude -
"By the mysterious powers of mutation and adaptation combined, the Wasteland Winds don't seem to affect you as they do other ponies. You can resist them and their ill-effects for much longer."
Effect: + Wasteland Wind resist. Stacks with protective armour for even higher resistance.
- Mysterious Stranger -
"Your own personal guardian angel-pony is watching over you. They'll protect you to the best of their abilities from the Wasteland's many and varied dangers."
Effect: Occasionally, a successful attack from an enemy will do no damage.
FIELD EFFECTS
- Wild Wasteland -
"You're just trying to mind your own business and survive the Wasteland... and the most ridiculous things seem to find you near-constantly. Go figure."
Effect: Taking this trait means implied consent for your character to potentially encounter the sillier side of post-apocalyptic Equestria- from friendly Griffins to talking rocks! This will also affect anyone IC with your character at the time a Wild Wasteland encounter occurs.
- Born Cowpony -
"The Wasteland has always been, and will always be, your home. You adore every dreary grey inch, and all of its potentially lethal inhabitants."
Effect: Many Hostile creatures become Neutral, unless you attack them first.
- On the Run -
"You're a no-good scoundrel - a rotten, motherless fiend! - and everypony knows it. Your reputation precedes you wherever you go."
Effect: Evil-aligned NPCs become Friendly and may offer aid or loot. Good-aligned NPCs become Hostile and may attack on sight.
- It's No Imposition -
"Your selfless and kind personality is hailed far and wide across the Wasteland. They've taken to calling you 'that nice pony from earlier'."
Effect: Good-aligned NPCs are more willing to lend aid and may gift you with supplies. Evil-aligned NPCs may regard you with either mockery or hostility... or both.
- Spot the Bard -
"You're at your best in a group, offering encouragement and support to your allies. Ponies will sometimes look down their snout at your role, but you know your contribution matters."
Effect: Your allies gain +2 to the result of all of their rolls during any round where you opt not to take any other actions.
